Rubrics and Success Criteria

One of the ways Iain allows his students to be successful with assessment tasks is to develop the success criteria with them.

Here are a few examples of what that looks like:


This rubric is used for all open responses.

The success criteria changes for each topic taught.

The great thing about co-constucting success criteria with students is that it allows them to self-assess.  They can compare their work and figure out what level or which part (s) of the criteria they met.  Students can then set goals for improvement.

Another benefit is that Iain can provide specific and descriptive feedback to students to let them know exactly HOW to improve their work.
